What happens during a hypnosis session for a child?
Before the first session, a 30-minute phone call with one or both parents allows us to discuss the child's situation. I answer all your questions, and ask targeted questions to help prepare for the session. Depending on the child's age and sensitivity, we decide together whether or not the parent(s) should be present at the beginning of the session.
The initial conversation
≈ 15 to 30 minutes
Depending on the child's age and sensitivity, the parent(s) may stay for the beginning of the session. I then continue alone with the child to encourage open and authentic communication.
Through play, drawing or discussion, I explore with the child what they are feeling, what they would like to change and what already helps them. This is a precious moment to plant the first seeds of change and naturally prepare the transition to hypnosis.
The Hypnosis session
≈ 20 minutes
Comfortably seated, often with their eyes closed, the child is guided by my voice into a pleasant state of relaxation, favorable to hypnosis.
Through an imaginary journey, stories or metaphors, I accompany them to explore their emotions and gently release fears or blockages.
At the end of this moment, the child opens their eyes feeling calmer, soothed and more confident in their own abilities.
DEBRIEF AND FOLLOW-UP
≈ 5 to 10 minutes
The end of the session is usually brief and light.
Younger children often simply want to return to their parents, while older ones may have questions or need to share what they experienced.
Sometimes we conclude with a drawing or a small game, so that they can put pictures on their emotions and share their experience in their own way.
After the session, a follow-up call with the parent(s) allows us to share what has been observed and answer any questions. Together, we decide whether a further session would be useful to support the child's progress.
The positive changes experienced during the session continue to gently integrate and take root into the child's daily life.
